Mrs. Ann VanBuren, whose maiden name was Kinney, was born in Connecticut August 15, 1835. At a very early age she was taken by her parents to Otsego Co, New York, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Peter VanBuren, November 1, 1853 in Cooperstown, NY. In 1864 they moved to Illinois and from there to Otoe County, Nebraska. In 1878 they settled on a farm a few miles north of Unadilla where they remained until a few years ago when they left the farm and came to Elmwood, where they remained until her death, which occurred November 10, 1902.

She leaves a husband, six children - four girls and two boys - and a large circle of friends and acquaintances by whom she was greatly beloved. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Elder Cyrus Alton, of the Christian church of which Mrs. VanBuren was a member at the time of her death. The remains were laid away at the cemetery churchyard at Pleasant Hill.

The death of Mrs. Tobias VanBuren occurred at the house of her sons in this place, Jan 2, 1891, aged 80 years, 4 months and 8 days. Mrs. VanBuren has been helpless for the last eight years. The funeral was held at the Baptist Church, Monday, Jan 5, Rev. Mr. Smith officiating.

John VanBuren obit Otsego Farmer & Republican, April 28, 1916, Cooperstown, NY

Burlington Flats Reporter-----John VanBuren died at his home at Springfield Center on Sunday evening following a short illness of pneumonia, aged 75 years. In early manhood he married Miss Roxanna Bigelow, who died four years ago. The couple had two daughters, one of whom died several years ago, and the other, Mrs. William White is seriously ill with pneumonia. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., Rev. G.B Tubbs, officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery here.

Peter VanBuren obit June 30, 1911, "Elmwood Leader-Echo", Elmwood, Nebraska

Peter VanBuren, one of our old and esteemed citizens, passed away at his home in Elmwood at an early hour last Sunday morning. His illness was of short duration, and his death, therefore, quite a shock to his friends and relatives. Medical aid was summoned as quickly as possible when it was known that his condition was dangerous, but nothing could resuscitate the frail spark of life that still lingered. Mr. VanBuren was born Dec 7, 1831, in Springfield, Otsego County, N.Y. He was married to Miss Ann M. Kinney November 1, 1853 in Cooperstown, NY; moved to Illinois December 20, 1865, and emigrated to Nebraska in a covered wagon in October 1878, settling on the farm in Otoe county where he lived until removing to Elmwood.

Deceased leaves to mourn his departure six children, two sons and four daughters, and five sisters and four brothers. He was a kind and affectionate father and a friend to all in need, and a loving brother to the sister who took care of him in his declining years. Funeral services were held from the home on Tuesday, interment taking place at Pleasant Hill cemetery beside the grave of Mrs. VanBuren, who died in 1902. Many old time friends and neighbors were in attendance at the funeral.

Roxanna VanBuren obit May 23, 1912, Richfield Springs Mercury, Richfield Springs, NY

Mrs. John VanBuren (Roxanna "Loxey" Bigelow) died on Friday after having suffered for over 2 years. She had spent her whole life on the farm where she died and also on the old Bigelow home adjoining. Mrs. VanBuren was united with the Presbyterian Church and Middle Springfield in early life. She was a woman of high Christian character and a very quiet disposition. Her parents were among the early residents of this town, being honored people and prosperous in their day.

She is survived by her aged husband and one daughter, Mrs. Will White, one brother Richard Bigelow of Richfield Springs, and two sisters, Mrs. Ferguson of Middlefield, and Mrs. Charles Steele of Springfield. The funeral was largely attended on Sunday at the Baptist church with Rev. Duclair assisting. Interment in family plot in Springfield Center Cemetery.

Tobias VanBuren obit Nov 11, 1892, Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown, NY

Little Lakes----This place was startled by the death of Mr. Tobias VanBuren who was nearly 80 years of age. Mr. VanBuren has lived in this town quite a number of years with his son, John VanBuren. Mr. VanBuren was a member of the Baptist Church of Springfield Center for a good many years, and continued to believe firmly in Christ until called to meet his reward in heaven.

Emerson VanCourt obit Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown, NY June 3, 1910

Emerson VanCourt died on Friday of last week at Richfield, after a long illness that he bore with great patience. Mr. VanCourt was an honest, kind-hearted man, and was much esteemed by his friends and neighbors.

Schuyler Lake------The body of Martin VanCourt was brought here Friday, May 19 from Middlefield and buried here. He was one of the oldest residents of this town. Mr. VanCourt was 80 years old.

Mary Van Court obit Thurs, March 18, 1939 The Utica Daily Express, Utica, NY

Schuyler Lake---Funeral services will be held today at 3 pm for Mrs. Mary E. (Darby) Van Court, 95, oldest resident of this village, at her home, the Rev. Charles Cramer officiating. Burial will be made in the local cemetery. Mrs. Van Court died March 13, 1939 at the home of her granddaughter Mrs. Lula Neal, after a short illness. She was born in Hartwick, oldest child of a family of seven children to Daniel and Lydia Brown Darby. She married William Dingman, who was called to serve in the Civil War and to them were born four children: Ella, Jennie, Nellie, and Clarence, all deceased with the exception of Mrs. Nellie Light. Mr Dingman died 53 years ago and later she married Emerson Van Court who died May 27, 1910. All her life was spent in this locality. She leaves besides her daughter, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Schuyler Lake---March 1---William VanCourt, a well-known farmer of Exeter, died Monday at his son George VanCourt's home on Rider Farm, he had been in poor health for sometime. He was the son of Stephen VanCourt and was born about 67 years ago. He is survived by 3 sons, George, Jess, and Fred, and a daughter Mrs. Mary Wintis?, 4 grandchildren, 1 brother, Theron VanCourt, 1 sister, Mrs. George Osborn of Burlington. The funeral wil be Friday at 1 p.m. at his son George's home. Interment will be in Schuyler Lake Cemetery.

William Van Court obit Farmers & Republican, Cooperstown, NY, March 3, 1922

William Van Court died at the home of his son George on the Rider farm near Schuyler Lake Monday evening Feb 27 after a lingering ilness of several months, duration which he had been cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Mary Winters, and Mr. and Mrs. Van Court. He leaves beside his two children mentioned, his wife who lives in Oneonta, two other sons, Jesse of Schuyler Lake, and Fred of Hartwick. The funeral was held Friday a the home of his son George. The body was placed in the vault. Schuyler Lake Reporter.

VANNORT-----Charles D. Vannort, of Unadilla, RD 2 died Monday, Dec 30, at Fox Hospital, Oneonta. Private funeral and committal services will be later in Sand Hill Cemetery, Unadilla. There are no calling hours. The family requests no flowers, in lieu of which contributions may be made to the Unadilla Emergency Squad. Funeral arrangements by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Alton VanWoert

Alton M. VanWoert, 379 Chestnut St., died at 7:20 am yesterday at Fox Hospital where he had been a medical patient.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Bookhout funeral home. Rev. Paul Huslander will officiate. The body will be placed in the Bookhout vault and burial will be made in the Plains cemetery later.

Mr. VanWoert was born April 13, 1869 in Otego, son of George and Lurissa (Shepherd) VanWoert, and Oct 20, 1915 he married Ina Hubbell at Oneonta. He had lived in Otego and Oneonta Plains. He engaged in farming for many years at Oneonta Plains and moved to the present address after his retirement last May. He was a member of the Elm Park Methodist church. For 30 years he served as Director of the Otsego County Fire Insurance Company. Surviving are his wife; one daughter Mrs. Richard Cohen, and one granddaughter, Patricia, of Oneonta.

Mrs. Leonard Vunk

Mrs. Henrietta Vunk, aged 94, died April 1, in the Clark Nursing Home in Richfield Springs, after an illness of four years.

She was born March 28, 1864, in Westville a daughter of Nelson J. and Lavina (Thayer) Bates. She was married to Leonard Vunk November 3, 1880, in Westville. He died February 9, 1936. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mrs. Vunk lived in this vicinity all her life.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Lewis Averell of Cooperstown; a son, Nelson F. Vunk of Glens Falls;; four grandchildren; Five great-Grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Ingalls Funeral Home here with the Rev. Robert H. Sheehan, Cooperstown Methodist pastor officiating. Burial will be in Lake Wood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience
